The Livonia Public Schools K-12 curriculum and the role of the Library Media Program is based on the national standards from the American Library Association. The five goals below represent the K-12 learning goals for students that will lead to the development of effective users of knowledge and ideas.
Literature Appreciation Students will develop an appreciation for literature as a source of pleasure and as an aid to understanding themselves and others.
Information Literacy Students will apply information strategies for accessing, evaluating, and using information to meet educational requirements and to pursue individual interests.
Social Responsibility Students will ethically access and interpret information to actively participate in a democratic society.
Technology Students will use technology to access and present information.
Independent Learning Students will develop skills of independence in acquiring and using information and technology.
